Discovering the Magic of a New Medium in Figurative Painting (NSFW)
Sharing my experience of learning and making artistic progress
Hey there!
It’s been a while since my last blog post, and I have to admit, I’ve been feeling the pressure. The guilt of not being able to consistently share my work has been nagging at me. But you know what? It’s time to let go of that guilt and focus on what really matters: creating and enjoying art!
Over the past two months, I’ve been on an art spree, diving into many creative endeavours. I’ve been attending live model nude sessions and venturing out for plein air painting sessions, all in the pursuit of inspiration and growth. And let me tell you, it’s been quite an adventure!
One recent highlight that I absolutely have to share with you is a workshop I attended on figurative painting. The workshop was led by the incredibly talented artist Mr. Akshay Pai and hosted by the Art Society of India. I felt very lucky for having an opportunity to learn from an artist whose work I’ve admired.
The three-day workshop was an in-depth exploration of the world of figurative painting. I learned so much during those days, and the feedback I received from Mr. Pai and my fellow participants was truly invaluable. It’s amazing how much progress we can make when we have a supportive community to learn and grow with.
Now, let’s talk about a breakthrough moment for me—working with oils. I have to admit, oils and I haven’t always gotten along. There have been countless messy mishaps in the past. But this time, something clicked. Oils turned out to be a beautiful medium to work with. The way the colours blend and merge on the surface is simply mesmerising. Plus, they give me the luxury of not having to rush as they dry more slowly compared to acrylics.
Without further ado, I proudly present some of my recent works.
I hope that you have derived as much pleasure from viewing these artworks as I did from creating them.
Happy Creating
