Parinirvana: A Reclining Buddha Painting
Acrylic on Canvas
Do you know that connecting with nature is therapeutic? Recently, I went to the beach to just take a walk and spend some alone time. As I walked barefoot, I let the waves brush through my toes and it felt so beautiful. Sometimes all we need is to ground ourselves and bring your awareness to the present. I just stood there, feeling like a part of nature. Walking on grass, sitting on the floor or even gardening are some wonderful ways to connect with nature and ground ourselves.
The colours of this painting are earthy and that is a representation of how we are a part of nature. Reclining Buddha is an image of Buddha lying down during Parinirvana which is during the last moment of his illness. It is a state beyond Nirvana. This kind of image is a major iconic theme in Buddhist Art.
