Nature has always inspired me to paint. I made “Tranquility” to learn the technique of Realism. As you can see, each strand of grass is painted individually, and that’s what Realism is. I’m not a big fan of this technique since it’s more time consuming; I much prefer an Impressionistic style. I’m more used to painting rough grass with a hog hair brush than thin strokes with a detail brush. I got frustrated from painting grass that I accidentally moved to Impressionism for those yellow-orange trees. So, this particular piece is a combination of Realism and Impressionism.
I’m a fan of Chuck Black, a master of painting realistic landscapes and wildlife. He also has a YouTube channel which have real-time videos. I followed one such paint-along tutorial for this painting and I learnt so much from just watching him paint.
Happy Creating.
